History
of Finish Feeder
The Boyds Station Antiques/Finish Feeder Co. served as the home for Finish Feeder for many years, and was located in a charming building within the historic district of Boyds, Maryland. This building had been witness to a number of commercial ventures, but for over 50 years the Kelly’s grew their family business, first distributing solvent products, then manufacturing and selling Finish Feeder Furniture Polish, and from 1986 until early 2007, running an antiques store.
In 1969, Ned Kelly purchased the Finish Feeder Company from a long-time customer, who purchased the primary ingredients from Mr. Kelly’s solvent business. The original owner of The Finish Feeder Co. found the formula for our polish in an 18th Century book and patented the formula. In 1982, Mrs. Kelly and her daughter set up an antique store in the small white house located on the property. The “KM Enterprises” antique store became Boyds Station Antiques when it moved to the main warehouse in 1986.
Both Boyds Station Antiques and the Finish Feeder Company continued to operate out of this location until late 2006, when another Kelly family member began manufacturing Finish Feeder, moving the company near his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
